Lauren and I started day two bright and early with mediocre (that's being generous) continental breakfast at the Warrenton Shilo Inn. After we fueled up we took care of some business (Yosemite campground = Booked--Yay!) and head south on the 101 towards Seaside.
We got distracted by a sign that said "Sunset Beach" and were amused to find that the road towards Sunset Beach actually led onto Sunset Beach.

We took three of these, my eyes were closed in all three :- | / |
After a few minutes of driving around ON the beach, the novelty wore off and we went back to the parking lot to dump the car while we did a short hike along the bluffs.

I love the ocean. |
From there we headed into Seasides' downtown. We got our first pleasant surprise of the day when we stumbled upon a sign announcing that this weekend was Seasides annualMuscle and Chrome car show!

Loud n' Proud! |
|
Lauren and I had no idea Squirrelly was such a car enthusiast. |
After a couple of hours walking around downtown, enjoying the muscle and chrome show, and grabbing a delicious lunch at the Tsumami Sandwich shop, we decide to head north to check out Astoria.
|
Yum! |
Situated just north of Warrington Astoria is the setting of such cinematic classics as the Goonies, Kindergarden Cop, TNMT III and and a handful of others in rapidly diminishing importance. Astoria has a lovely downtown with a handful of used/second hand stores, plenty of casual drinking and dining establishments.
It was here that we stumbled upon our second pleasant surprise of the day--Fort George Brewery!
|
Me in my element. |
Lauren and I both enjoyed Fort George, in fact, we enjoyed it so thoroughly that just a few hours later we found ourselves back on the patio soaking up the late-evening rays over dinner.
After dinner, we decided there wasn't a better way to cap out the day than to take care of some business that was loooong overdue for me; we'd watch The Goonies!

Better late than never right? |
Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!
