Day 24 and 25 - Into Wine Country (Again)

We got an early start out of Kings Canyon and headed West back towards Fresno.  As much as we were hoping to avoid going through Fresno again, it was the most direct route to get us back towards the coast.

We had decided to treat ourselves after camping for 6 straight days, so we booked another AirBnB that looked pretty amazing.  The description promised a small cottage on a vineyard just outside of the small town of Paso Robles.  We were definitely looking forward to that!

But en route, we stopped in the small town of Sanjer, to visit a former co-worker of Dan's.   We had a delicious brunch at a local diner with Ryanne and her husband Alberto.  After a quick tour of their beautiful home (right on King's River), we continued our drive to Paso.

When we arrived, we were instantly relaxed and very much looking forward to spending the next 2 nights here (we were already wishing it was 3 nights!)

After a much needed shower and quick nap, we headed into Paso Robles for dinner.  We were not disappointed.

Yes, pizza again
An after dinner soak in the hot tub made for a perfect end to the night.

The next day we were in no hurry to leave the cottage.  We spent the morning relaxing over coffee and mimosas before heading into San Luis Obispo and Pismo Beach.

A quick stop at Pismo Beach
After an afternoon of exploring, we were invited to my friend Ken's house for dinner with his baby, Max and mother-in-law, Sue.  Ken prepared a delicious BBQ chicken and corn dinner which we ate outside under their orange tree.

Once 7:30 rolled around, we quickly excused ourselves and rushed back to the vineyard to try to catch a hilltop sunset.  We were a little late but were still able to get some amazing views.

No complaints here!
