a visit to Arizmendi Bakery, a local co-op bakery, for a delicious breakfast pastry and some fresh-brewed coffee.
After breakfast, on Anna's recommendation, we drove from the Mission over to Lands End. Once again, we were amazed to see the weather morph from warm and sunny to cool and foggy in just a few miles.
We poked our heads into the Lands End gift shop where Lauren became confused by Squirrelly doppelganger.
Will the real Squirrelly please stand up? |
As we probably should have expected, the fog did not lift and we were barely able to make out the nubs of the bridge before a thicker layer of fog rolled in and painted the canvas completely grey.
From there we headed to Haight Ashbury. I wasn't particularly excited about visiting the corner where all of the old dirty hippies used to hang out but Lauren has a bit of an old-dirty-hippy soul (in the good sense) so I obliged.
After making the obligatory laps around the Haight we headed back to Anna's neighborhood. We grabbed a burrito and a beer at Papalote we regrouped at Anna's flat and headed over to Dolores Park for a relaxing afternoon. With it's panoramic views of San Francisco Dolores Park is a fantastic place to spend a sunny afternoon. With its abundance of men sunning in whitie-tighties it's an especially fantastic place to spend a sunny afternoon if you're a gay man (bonus points if you enjoy smoking pot, and drinking beer in public).
After as much sun as we could handle, we packed up our books and headed back to Anna's flat. We had another delicious Anna-prepared meal and then walked over to Humphry Slocombe for dessert (did I forget to mention yesterday that we got ice cream at Bi-rite Cremery?) Anna lives at the center of SF ice cream heaven (how could we NOT take advantage!?)
What a fun day!
